Today we made a fire engine out of shapes- two rectangles, a square and three circles. Eva constructed this on her own and I think it turned out great! It's amazing how independent she is getting.
To finish the engine, I cut out a ladder and Eva made a light bar with some gems. (I guess all the pattern work has been paying off- she made her own on the fire engine.)
As a final touch, Eva drew a fire fighter in the window and a road for the engine to drive along.
Then we read one of Eva's favorite books- This is the Firefighter by Laura Godwin.
What a great project, I will have to do this with Emily, we talked about fire prevention this week after a trip to our Fire Department at the beginning of the week.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to stART!!
I did a firefighter and activity too.
ReplyDeletecute.
ReplyDeleteIt's the perfect week for firetrucks! Love how hers turned out, especially the use of gems. My son made one earlier in the year and we used a brass brad to make the ladder swing up and down.
ReplyDeleteNice! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these fire truck activities! We took a trip to our Museum of Transportation and my boys are just primed to do some books on transportation. This one will be great. She did wonderfully I can't believe she did it independently. She must have good stick-with-it-ness!
ReplyDeleteVery cute -- I love the ladder as a finishing touch! I haven't read that book. I bet my transportation-loving toddler would really like it.
