Today's craft was a simple little button tree. I cut out a triangle from green paper and a brown rectangle and Eva glued together a tree. Then she used white glue to adhere buttons all over the tree for ornaments.
That in itself had been my plan for the craft but Eva knew no Christmas tree is complete without lights so she used glitter glue to make tiny dabs all over the tree. Now it sparkles just like our actual tree does!
It's hard to see but next to each button, Eva drew the pine needle that the ornament is hanging on. I love that she can take a simple idea and add so much of her own interpretation to it!
Oh my gosh!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!! This will be made this week for sure!! And I love her own interpretations too!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did she start cutting? I haven't let Luke start yet and wonder if I am holding him back now???
I think she was about 2 1/2 when she started cutting. I'd definitely let him try. It's tricky at first and then he'll probably go through a phase of cutting any paper he can find into tiny bits (actually it might not be a phase as Eva still does this if she's bored!).
ReplyDeleteOh boy. He is going to love this!! Now if I can just find those kid/safety scissors I bought a million months ago!! Thanks!!!!! I feel so bad to keep him behind. He is going to be so happy. I will be sure to tell him you said it was okay!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kara! This is so cute! I'm sharing this today over at http://www.motherhoodonadime.com/crafty-idea-for-kids-button-tree/ -- hope you don't mind!! :)
