Seaside Sensory

Eva awoke this morning to a new sensory/exploration area.  We have a window seat in our dining room that I usually have paper on for her to color and decorate with stickers.  Lately she has been using it less and less so I decided to transform it.  She noticed as soon as she came down this morning (hence the bedhead!).
This week we have sand in the sensory tub along with some rocks, shells and a shovel.  She also has a real starfish to examine with her magnifying glass and a variety of sea shells for sorting.
So far it's a big hit.  Hopefully we will find some new things at the beach to add to the area when we go later in the week.

  3. My kids love sensory tubs too! We haven't done a beach theme----just might have to do that! I love that you have a special area.

  4. Awesome! We actually went to the beach this past weekend. That would have been a great thing to use before we went.

  5. Wonderful sensory table! I love it... Sand is not allowed in our house, but I admire your bravery. :)

  6. Thanks for posting about your window seat! We have an almost identical seat (also in a red room). I had made a reading area for my 3-year old, but she hasn't been using it much, so when I saw your post I decided to put a beach/ocean sensory tub to go along with our ocean theme study this week. Our theme study was inspired by your beach theme- I really liked how you had worked in fine and gross motor skills, that's something we've been focusing on this summer. Thanks for the great blog!
